The destruction in Haiti rages onward as the island nation was struck by a second earthquake this morning that hit 6.1 on the richter scale.

Shaking buildings and a crowd of people flee into the streets in a panic when the quake struck. Survivors still coping with the aftermath of last weeks quake that shook the island nation registering at 7.0 and killing over 200,000 people. Many people are still buried and fighting for their lives.

Prime Minister Jean-Max said the government is sending a plane and an overland team to check on the situation in Petit-Goave, the centre of this morning's aftershock as many people are still in need of help. The new quake struck 35 miles north-west of Port-au-Prince at a depth of 13.7 miles.

Images flash before many (not in Haiti) on the news daily. Children and People not affected in the quake, killed in the streets for looting as police try their best to keep the violence at a minimum and maintain control.

Fabienne Geismar, a 15 year old girl was not one of 4,500 prisoners to escape after the Haiti earthquake broke Port-au-Prince prison apart but was shot with a single bullet to the head. Her lifeless body lying atop of the stolen pictures she took.

1.5 million are homeless as many flee the island in search of shelter and food and water are still among the most important necessities needed for survival for remaining residents.

Governments and military forces have pledged both money and time, but excessive road closures and distructive zones have been making getting supplies to people near impossible.

PERSONAL NOTE: The destruction is almost unbearable to watch. I sit with my kids and husband watching it on the news, grateful we have our health and home. It's sad to see these people suffering who already lived in an impoverished way struggle. My heart aches for them. If you are Canadian and wish to give hope and hand. Okay so Shoelessmommy is over at my house watching Biggest Loser when she tells me about this blog she came across called "The Sleep-talking Man blog" and it's about this guy who talks in his sleep each night and his wife records everything he says.

I have to say I peed a little (just a little) listening and reading about the chap. The things he says are so randomly hilarious you are inhuman if you don't crack up a little.

Now apparently this man and his wife have only been married for a year and a bit, and he never did this before. Now suddenly they and everything he says has quickly become an overnight sensation. You can even buy sleep-talking man t-shirts to show your support of this couple and their hilarity.

DH offered me the last sip of his Pepsi and I glared at him. How dare he. I cannot drink the last sip of the drink. It's not the same as taking the first sip or somewhere in the middle. It just isn't.

Jake (aka Gamerboy) won his very first hockey game as goalie. The Abbotsford Bulldogs beat out Hope in an 11-9 victory with big boy Jake between the pipes. I don't know what was more exhausting. Watching the clock move its ass slower than a turtle across the sand as the minutes ticked by. Or listening to the opposing parents shout "Shoot... get it by him!" with me refraining from swinging my smurf arms and striking them down with one or twenty swift blows to the face. It's a toss up really...

The most fun I had this week was doing our first podcast with DH. It's always nice after five years of marriage when you realize "hey he laughs funny" but I still like him anyway.

Our financial situation explained point blank:

PB (Pickleboy) our three year old: Has on his jacket, shoes and paper in his hands.  "Ummm where are you going?"  He spins around and smiles at me.

"To work.  Someone has to make the money round here!"

Anxiety is like a crushing wave of nothingness attacking you from the inside out without an escape route, a way for your brain to inform you that you are doomed if things don't change and you will be screwed!

My parents mean well but sometimes I just wish they would accept the fact that I don't always want to clean my house, get dressed, do my hair and make-up and put my kids to bed at a proper time.  Sometimes I just want to do nothing!

Okay I have not posted on my blog about the earthquake that struck the small and impoverish island nation of Haiti because things like this always strike me emotionally and I have hard time watching or even discussing issues with such extreme human factors involved.

That being said however I'm posting this information piece on how Canadians can help with relief efforts which include: financial donations, food, clothing, water, blankets and supplies to aid the survivors facing the aftermath of the 7.0 earthquake that struck January 12, 2010

Every time you turn on the news you see pictures of the mass implosion that hit Haiti. Thousands are dead. Many have not even been found yet. Children have weeks without food which strikes a heart chord with me, and like with Katrina leaves me wondering how can I help?

Even if you have no money there are things you can do to help out with Haiti relief. Many churches in the Abbotsford and Fraser Valley surrounding areas need volunteers to box food and supplies.

You can donate food or clothing, tooth brushes, water and more through your local church, Salvation Army, Abbotsford and surrounding food banks and so forth.

But if you aren't sure where to go but wish to jump in and lend a hand. Here are a few links for you as our Canadian soldiers are being deployed daily to help with relief and peace keeping efforts in Haiti.

One person can make a difference.  Many people can change the outlook of something like this not just in the way relief is provided but in lifting the human spirit and helping others hang onto hope during times of crisis...

I lay beside him listening to his whimpering cry, wiping the tears gently away from his cheeks as they fall.

"Oh sweetie what can I do?" I ask, feeling my heart rip to pieces with helplessness as I know there isn't much I can--do.

"Do you want a bath?"

He shakes his head almost immediately.

Some nights he says yes almost as fast, but I can tell tonight won't be one of those
nights because he is fighting it.

Christ he is strong!

Stronger than me. It's almost 4 am and I struggle, wanting to take him in my arms, just hold him close. But he doesn't let me hug him or kiss him better. That's his asperegers.

He continues to cry...

Shit!

Why him?

Why does he have to suffer like this?

I am angry inside now. He didn't play long today. Today was mild compared to others when he runs knowing he will take consequences for it later.

He doesn't care because some days are just worth it- you know?

Trace is nearly four now and one might think he is suffering as many kids do with--growing pains.

But that is not the case.

He has mild cerebral palsy and each night, nearly every night he cries because the pain in his legs hurts him so bad.

It has been going on since he was almost two, this leg pain. His tolerance for it amazes me.

Tonight is bad though and the crying as he says... "it hurts, mommy." is almost enough to undo me completely.

"Shhhhh my boy it is okay..." I tell him though inside my vocabulary is colorfully tainted, no angels ears should listen or be burned.

I want to protect him...

I want to make his suffering stop...

I want to tell him it will get better...

But I can't.

The storm has just started and he is in for more hurt as time goes on. There is nothing I can do to change that.

I just hope I have the strength to endure it and that I, too, can show the same courage as he does.

You are brave my darling and you are a fighter.

I am proud and I know it won't be easy but these challenges... these hurdles you will survive...and mommy will be there every step of the way.

Just remember no matter what anyone tells you--when you jump--you can fly!

Jake (gamerboy) loves playing hockey and I have to say watching his team play is so totally thrilling and exciting!

The boys played Hope last weekend and beat them 8-7. They will face off with them again with Jake in net

I always worry for him because he is so hard on himself, but I know he will do well.

I want to welcome everyone to our first ever Podcast Show!

I am excited. I hope you are too, but warning: Please be kind!

I say this because neither FD: Forgetful Dad nor myself have ever done a podcast show before, so we are still learning. We thought it would be fun, something to do together and give our readers a little glimpse into who we are.

In this first episode FD and I introduce ourselves to you, who we are and how we met. We discuss online dating and there is a little clip of one of the worst phone messages ever (dating situation) I have ever heard. I couldn't stop laughing. We also introduce you to the boys and talk about them.

We hope to bring a new show every two weeks to you. Topics we will discuss will range from dealing with disabilities, raising a special needs child, family life, marriage, celebrity gossip, hockey to whatever is on our minds at the time.

We hope you enjoy listening and have as much fun as we did in recording these episodes. We also look forward to your comments which will be read out loud in future recordings.

TY Ryan and Crystal, and no worries Crystal about the name. My name for my site isn't always easy to say. I appreciate you reading my comment over the air and putting out my website.
