wordful wednesday: jonah jones so sweet

My parents went away last weekend to K-town for my Aunty W's and cousin Car's surprise b-day party put on my other cousin Lisa Lee.  It was a big family gathering which FD and I could not go to because we were not feeling great and had to dog sit.

While they were there mom told me this story about a tiny bird, a wild bird, a swallow to be exact and how it came to Lisa's house for a visit.  It chased her and she was scared of it a little (at first) but man this bird made friends fast.

Take a look as my cousin runs from this bird, everyone is laughing.

Little Jonah Jones (they named him) spent the day with the family and seemed to enjoy himself.  It's strange really to see a swallow (wild at that) acting this way with everyone.  A few years ago Lisa's dad, my uncle passed away from Cancer and I told my mom the bird made me think that maybe the bird was my uncle's way of saying he was there, close to everyone, watching over them and loving them.

Then Jonah decided to take a nap.  It actually curled up on Shayne and slept.

Lisa finally warmed up and wasn't so scared as she and Jonah became friends.

This is only a few of our very large family.  I'm sorry we missed the party but happy birthday Car and Aunty W.  I hope you guys had a blast and enjoyed the festivities.  We will hopefully see you guys this summer when we come up.  Love you all!

wordful wednesday: track and field rainy goodness

FD hiding his face.  It was a long day volunteering.

I woke up this morning to my oldest son Gamer (he's eleven) in a frantic panic informing me we all had to get up because today was his school wide Track & Field meet at the Rotary here in Abbey and that he'd volunteered Forgetful Dad to help out.

Don't you love it when our kids tell us things at the last minute.

So up we got and out the door with toast crumbs on our sleeves, blankets, water, juice and we headed to 7-Eleven for some much needed coffee before venturing off to the stadium to set up for the event and in the rain no less.

The weather was awful but it did not put a damper on the day.  In fact it was quite the opposite.  Six schools grades 4 & 5 competed against one another in a variety of events that ranged from: high jump, long jump, Frisbee throw, ball toss, 800m, 400m, 200m, 80m, hurdles and the relay race.  They raced against one another but as far as competition went.  It was a totally different story...

When I was in school and we did Track & Field, the competition was fierce.  We also had shot-put and discus not Frisbee and ball toss.  Guys tripped each other to get past one another as they raced down the lane-way to make sure they struck first coming across the finish line.

The kids out here, the kids at the meet today showed a little bit of competitiveness and a lot more support of one another.  And boy was it a real treat to watch.  Even the weather couldn't stop the fun all the kids were  having.

Forgetful Dad rested on the finish line and his job was to count the runners as they came across for the top eight spots so ribbons could be handed out.

It was a real treat to see kids from different schools cheering not just those students from their perspective schools but also other kids, friends they knew and even those they didn't as each student aimed for first... second and third place or even those who came last.
Kids from different schools cheered on the special needs kids all the way to the finish line.

By the midway point they did the special needs race and my heart lept as we watched these students with disabilities that ranged from mental retardation, cerebral palsy (which our youngest has but very mild in comparison) to those who were blind, hang onto students arms as they ran, walked and even skipped their way across the finish line.

The roar from the crowd was definitely something our community and students from district 34 should feel proud of.
The kids had front row seats on the grass next to the finish line.

Gamer waits his turn at the high jump

Pickleboy watches the race as he brother aims for a finish in the 80m race.

It was a great day all in all.  Gamer competed in all the events and his ribbons ranked from 3rd to 8th and he had a blast and I have to say.  Events like this are one of the things I absolutely enjoy as a parent.

wordful wednesday: no arms, no legs, no worries

This week as I came across this in my inbox sent to my husband from a volleyball friend of his.  I cried watching it as it makes you think about your life and I know how FD felt, going through all the things he has in his life with his brain injury, feeling he would never get married, never be a good husband or father because of his inability to remember.

I'm lucky to have him.  Lucky in my life.  We all are, after watching this man Nick Vujicic and his mission to set people straight on what we should appreciate in life.

I am very blessed in my life to have my husband.  He's a good man.  Sure he goes to bed at night and forgets what happened the day before.  Sure he will drop me off and forget to come and pick me up.  Sure he might forget it's my birthday.

But he's loving, caring, sweet, intelligent, amazingly patience, loves his children, a good person, responsible, helpful and kind and basically he makes me want to be a better person.

wordless wednesday: trouble with a middle "t"

It's been insanely gorgeous outside lately here in BC, especially with the Winter Olympics going on.

So my gf (t) came over the other day and she looked hot! I mean she was all dressed up and not in baggy jogging pants, which is what we stay at home moms are most comfortable in (ahem) seven days a week.

She looked beautiful! She had makeup on, earrings and I decided to take a pic of her.

Well this is response I got...

Holy Cow!  T you are suppose to say Cheese! LMAO

Wordless Wednesday: heart monitor

Today is wordless Wednesday and although I mostly just post a pic, today is going to be a bit wordy as I went to ARH and got fitted for the holster monitor which I have to have for tenth four hours.

It keeps the time. I thought it would show my heart rate bit doesn't which is prolly a good thong since I am anxious enough.

Don't I look happy lmao Kay not! I won't get the results for two weeks after the treadmill test is done. I wish it was sooner.

wordful wednesday: i love my hockey mom

Omg I am a hockey mom!

I always wanted to be one, secretly which I think is every moms dreams when she's mom to all boys - lol.

Gamerboy started ice hockey this year.  He's a bit late getting into the game but financially it's like a mortgage payment just to get him in.  But we  managed it and now he's playing on a great team.  The Abbotsford Bulldogs, atom division and they just won their first game last weekend!

Way to go DOGS!

Gamer plays goal and he's totally stoked.  So yesterday we were out and he saw this small stick (above) at the dollar store and I just had to get it for his hockey room.  I love it!  I'm a hockey mom and something about that turns my emotions and causes me to leak (lots!!!!) tears all over lmao.

I will posting pics of Gamer really soon playing and in gear, so come back to check it out!  He loves reading my comments.

wordful wednesday: no sex

Okay so yeah, it's Wed...nes...day which means it's picture time! Nothing fancy this week sorry guys and gals. Just a complete circle with the world sex inside and a cross through it (meaning NO SEX) which is exactly what I got yesterday.

Explain right?

Well okay I was in the mood. I mean yes I'm a mommy but I'm also a woman and human and mood to bump uglies struck me at around 4am this morning.

So there DH I and I were, exhausted from the day and trying to fester up some early morning romance.

And things were going great! There was kissing, heavy petty and excitement filled the air. And then it happened...

"MOMMMMMMMMMMMMIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!"

Yep you got it. Pickle boy screeched at the top of his lungs. So into the bedroom I went to console my dreaming (nightmares I think) child and put him back to sleep.

"Mommy is trying to get some action buddy so closed your damn eyes and find your dream land okay?" Yeah okay I didn't say that lol. I wanted him (Trashy Thursday) moment I know but I didn't.

Instead I snuggled him and put him back to sleep and then rushed back to DH whose eyes were shut but body waiting. I immediately went back to work (you know ahem) to help rev his engines again and mine.

"Mommmmmmmmmmmmmmmieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!"

"You have to be shitting me?" I stared at DH who couldn't stop laughing.

Yeah okay this went on four times. All four times I put PB back to sleep and got myself all hot and bothered again only to hear my name being called and not by DH.

Finally the last time PB entered the bedroom. "I sleep with you," he said whiny and climbed into our bed with two fully clothed parents who stared up at the ceiling in a huff of disappointment as to what could have been.

Oh well there's always next month!

Here is what Forgetful Dad had to say on the matter.
